Market Update

The Federal Reserve held rates steady at 4.25-4.50% in June - its fourth consecutive pause - while projecting two quarter-point rate cuts by year-end, predicting the federal funds rate to land near 3.9% in 2025. The Fed lowered its GDP growth forecast to 1.4%, bumped unemployment to 4.5%, and raised PCE inflation expectations to 3%, pointing to a modestly stagflationary outlook. Chair Powell emphasized that lingering uncertainties - such as trade shifts, tariffs, and policy changes - could continue stoking inflation, underscoring the central bank’s cautious, data-dependent stance.
